SMART SEED Program
The Digital Union, with its corporate partner, SMART Technologies, is pleased to offer a second SEED program to Ohio State University faculty.
In the SEED program, ten faculty are able to work with SMART Boards, Sympodiums, and Airliners in the classroom for the length of Spring Quarter 2009. If the department wishes to purchase the equipment at the end of the quarter, it is offered a reduced price; if the department does not wish to purchase, there is no cost.
How to apply
Ten applicants will be chosen by a screening committee to take part in the Spring Quarter 2009 program. No prior experience or training is necessary.The deadline for applications is January 12th, 2009. To apply for the SMART seed program, visit the following link:

SMART™ Board™
An interactive whiteboard is a touch-sensitive technology that connects to your computer and projector. The projector displays your computer desktop on the surface of the interactive whiteboard. Using your finger as a mouse, you touch the screen to open and control computer applications. A SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard is an effective way to engage and inform your audience. SMART™ Sympodium™
Stand before a lecture-hall audience or sit at a seminar able – an interactive pen display lets you face your audience while you control your digital presentation. Connected to a computer and a projector, the interactive pen display is both a monitor and an input device. You use the interactive screen to control your computer, and your projector displays your presentation on a large screen so your audience can easily follow along.
SMART™ Airliner™
Teach from the front of the room, the back of the class or by a student’s side – without losing the learning benefits of interacting with digital lessons. With the AirLiner™ slate, you and your students can interact wirelessly with your SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard from up to 54 ft. (16 m) away. Use the battery-free tethered pen to switch between pen, mouse and eraser functions to control any software application, write notes or highlight information. The AirLiner wireless slate is a lightweight tool that you can carry with you as you teach. Write out a math problem using the wireless slate, and then hand it to a student to fill in the answer. Use multiple slates for group seat work such as question and answer sessions. The slate supports simultaneous interaction, so multiple students using slates and the SMART Board™ interactive whiteboard can write notes at the same time.
