Don Terndrup's research interests lie in the field of stellar evolution and his educational field is broad and deep, as he offers classes from the introduction to the solar system, astronomical observation and data analysis, to galactic astronomy.

He collaborates with the Digital Union on Research on Research (2006) and on grants that will provide expertise in creating interactive displays and data interpretation at the proposed re-opening of COSI's planetarium.
